An instant approval personal loan means different things to different people, depending upon whom you ask. For some, getting qualified and funded for a personal loan means one or more of the following things:

* a rescue squad for your cash flow situation

* the chance to pay off mounting bills * getting the monkey of debt collectors off your back * the ability to pay for a big expense like a marriage or a funeral * the chance to pay a much-needed visit to family who live in a faraway place

Whatever your reason for wanting a personal loan, you are not alone: thousands of people qualify for this type of loan every day. Many who qualify have stellar credit scores, while others have fair, poor, even bad credit scores.

For anybody looking for a personal loan who has a bad credit score, it is important to understand how creditors see you differently than they do your good-credit-score friends. And, in order to get approved, it is also essential that you learn how to shop for this type of loan in a way that improves your chances of loan approval.

If you are looking for bad credit instant approval personal loans, here are 3 ways you can improve your chances of loan approval:

1. Understand how your credit history affects your loan options:

Lenders look for one thing when deciding whether to approval an applicant’s loan application, namely: how likely is this person to repay the loan? This type of thinking is summed up in a single word: risk assessment. The lower your credit score, the bigger the risk they judge an applicant to be. That is because the vast majority of personal loan lenders focus almost exclusively on applicants’ credit scores.

2. Learn where to shop for personal loans for bad credit individuals:

As someone who currently has a bad credit score, you know that this is hopefully only a temporary situation; someday soon, if you work at it, you can and probably will have a fair or even a good credit score. But for the time being, just know that you will be treated differently by most lenders due to your score. That’s okay: just make sure that you approach the right type of lender. Specifically, you need to find personal loan lenders who advertise themselves as “bad credit personal loan” lenders.

You see, these special lenders look at risk in a very different way than do standard lenders. These bad credit lenders do not just look at your credit score and make a quick yes/no decision on your loan. Rather, they take a more sophisticated approach to reviewing your credit report. That is how they determine your loan decision and what interest rate you pay.

3. Have the endurance required to apply to multiple lenders:

Bad credit lenders have been known to extend loans to people with just about any possible credit score. That fact alone should give you the courage you need to follow through with applying to multiple lenders. Do not stop after just one: be sure to apply to at least four or five lenders. That is how you can secure the lowest rate, which will save you money. So, have the endurance the follow through with applying to all of the lenders you can find.

Try these 3 ways to get approved for instant approval bad credit personal loans.

Pentagon’s Quadrennial Defense Review released

   Posted by: Admin   in Uncategorized

Friday, February 3, 2006

The Pentagon released its findings from its Quadrennial Defense Review today. This review focuses mainly on defining and identifying weak points in United States defenses, and prescriptions for improvements in those areas.

This review, known as the Quadrennial Defense Review because Congress requires it every four years, does not alter the Pentagon’s approach in Iraq. It also leaves intact the Defense Department’s broader strategy for keeping the U.S. military big enough to fight other major conflicts.

The plan proposes a 4.8% boost to the Department of Defense budget, eliminates no major weapons programs and includes an 8 percent overall increase for weapons (to US$84 billion) for the budget year starting Sept. 30. This review excludes the Energy Department’s nuclear weapons programs.

Overall, there was an emphasis on finding ways to adopt a more indirect approach to the war on terror; a shifted emphasis from performing tasks to enabling other countries to perform. Some of the specific proposals include:

 • Expansion of special operations forces by 15%; the Army’s Green Berets and the Navy SEAL commandos, for example, who are trained in specialized warfare skills that are often utilized covertly in cooperation with the armed forces of small countries.
Relevant to this expansion, the Marines are establishing a special operations force for the first time, with an initial goal of preparing 2,600 Marines.
 • An increase by 3,700 (or about one-third) of psychological warfare and civil affairs units. These are in heavy demand in Iraq and Afghanistan because of their role working with local civilian authorities to build trust and influence perceptions of U.S. forces.
 • Building new partnerships in the “War on Terror” by increasing time spent training other armies, navies and air forces, particularly in places, where U.S. troops have not traditionally operated. This in turn, will call for an increased mastery of other languages and better knowledge of foreign cultures.
 • More officers serving stints in foreign militaries to better develop long-term relationships and regional expertise.
 • The creation by the Navy, of a force of small boats that can be utilized in inland waterways abroad to help countries build their own maritime forces to combat terrorists.

Other highlights include:

 • A proposed 10 percent reduction in the fleet of Minuteman III land-based nuclear missiles, from 500 to 450 missiles. Also, the conversion of some nuclear missiles on Trident submarines to non-nuclear missiles within two years. The Pentagon did not specifically state how many are to be converted.
 • A five-year, $1.5 billion program to develop medical countermeasures for bioterrorism threats.

Australia Votes 2007: Labor plan for home buyers

   Posted by: Admin   in Uncategorized

Sunday, November 4, 2007

Kevin Rudd, Australia’s Leader of the Opposition has promised a special home buyers’ bank account with tax concessions if Labor is elected on November 24.

Mr Rudd says AU$64,000 could be saved by a couple on the average wage over five years. The plan would cost the Government $600 million dollars.

The Housing Industry Association has welcomed the announcement but says it would be a start and would “avoid a stampede of first home buyers into the market.”

Prime Minister John Howard is bracing himself for a possible Wednesday interest rate rise which may decide the election. Howard has defended the rumours, saying that some rise would be ‘unavoidable’.

Monday, December 18, 2006

A state of emergency was declared Sunday for the U.S. state of Washington by governor Christine Gregoire, as additional reports of storm-related casualties surfaced. The state National Guard has been deployed to aid in distributing supplies.

Thousands were still without power in the coastal and Puget Sound regions, though most urban areas were back with power as late as Sunday afternoon, and outages were mostly contained to rural and unincorporated areas. Puget Sound Energy reported that roughly 500,000 energy customers out of the 700,000 who lost power were back in service by Sunday evening. Seattle City Light, the city’s independent municipal utility, reported only 18,000 customers still without power as of Monday morning, down from a peak of 175,000.

Four additional deaths related to the post-storm power outage had been reported as of Monday, bringing the total number of casualties to eight. A man in Gig Harbor was electrocuted by a downed power line while walking his dog. Another man in Spanaway died when an unattended candle caused a house fire.

Two died from carbon monoxide poisoning in separate incidents related to use of combustion devices indoors. Roughly a hundred additional cases of non-fatal carbon monoxide poisoning were reported from people using generators or grills indoors. News radio stations and authorities warned the public to stay away from downed power lines and not to use grills indoors. Dr. Neil Hampson at Virginia Mason’s hyperbaric unit, where a number of victims were being treated, warned it could be “the worse case of carbon monoxide poisioning in the country”.

On Monday, four new carbon-monoxide deaths were reported in a family of five in Burien due to an indoor generator. In Canada, which had some damage from the week’s storms, two southern British Columbia carbon monoxide deaths were also reported. Despite continued warnings, hospitals are still seeing cases of carbon monoxide poisoning, including a family in w:Shoreline, Washington which was taken to the hospital after they reported symptoms due to their indoor grill. Neighbors of the Burien family suggested that noise concerns are leading people to place noisy generators indoors.

The massive power outage left many stores and gas stations unable to operate. Some businesses opened with the help of backup generators, conserving power by foregoing heat and refrigeration, exterior lighting, and half the interior lighting. Most stores had run out of “D” size batteries, the most common size for flashlights, as well as firelogs and other essentials. Gasoline shortages were reported throughout the area, with one man selling excess fuel for as high as $15 per gallon, over 5 times the average retail price.

The Red Cross set up shelters throughout King and other affected counties for those without power or food. Hotels reported no vacancies as whole families took shelter in powered hotels, especially in Seattle. Restaurants also reported brisk business as people sought out a hot cooked meal. Tons of perishable food were expected to have become unsafe after the prolonged outage disabled refrigerators and freezers both in homes and stores.

Many of those without power visited nearby friends and family living where power had been continued or restored, while others traveled out of the area to places that had not been affected. The widespread outage made long-distance traveling treacherous on some major routes, with roadway lighting, cellular towers, and services disabled by the outage.

Most major roadways which were closed during the storm were reopened on Friday. The 520 Floating Bridge over Lake Washington, a major conduit to the technology-rich Eastside, sustained minor damage. Amtrak, which had halted its Cascades service, resumed Saturday evening. Sea-Tac Airport resumed operations with a reduced flight load, after a transient power outage on Friday disabled the airport radar and caused all planes to be grounded until it was repaired.

High percentage of US patients on placebos without knowing it

   Posted by: Admin   in Uncategorized

Friday, January 4, 2008

A new study amongst doctors in the United States on the use of placebos—pills with no medical effect—shows that almost half of the questioned practitioners prescribe placebos, most of them within the last year.

The majority of 466 faculty physicians at Chicago-area medical schools interviewed by a research group of the University of Chicago stated that placebos are useful to calm a patient down or to respond to demands for medication that the doctor disagrees with, i.e. “to get the patient to stop complaining”.

96 percent of the physicians surveyed believe that placebos can have therapeutic effects. Close to 40 percent stated that placebos could benefit patents physiologically as well as mentally.

Twelve percent of surveyed physicians think that placebos should be banned from clinical practice. Among the doctors who prescribed them, one in five said they outright lied to patients by claiming a placebo was medication. But more often the physicians came up with ways to explain like that “this may help you but I’m not sure how it works.”

The American Medical Association (AMA), the largest association of U.S. doctors and medical students, tells its members that “[p]hysicians may use placebos for diagnosis or treatment only if the patient is informed of and agrees to its use.” The research, published in Journal of General Internal Medicine this week, is the first major U.S. study of doctors on the use of placebos since 1979.

World’s most expensive hotel-casino opens in Las Vegas

   Posted by: Admin   in Uncategorized

Friday, April 29, 2005

The world’s most expensive hotel-casino ever has opened in Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino, which was designed and built over a period of five years, cost US$2.7 billion to construct. The hotel stands nearly fifty stories above the Las Vegas valley, with a 180-foot tall mountain in front of the main entrance.

Numerous lavish touches contributed to the high expense of the development. The sign in front of the Wynn property has an unusual mechanical design, with a large piece containing the Wynn logo, which can move vertically up or down as different announcements are presented.

“I think it’s going to start a shift of power. It’s been the south for a long time. Things will start moving to the north because of Wynn Las Vegas, Sheldon Adelson with the expansion of the Venetian, the New Frontier — that whole area will become the new hot area of Las Vegas for the next decade or so,” gaming expert Anthony Curtis told Las Vegas KLAS TV.

As the property opened to the public, developer Steve Wynn greeted visitors at the front entrance.

“It’s always fascinating to watch people enter the thing and get their first moment after we open the doors,” Wynn told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

File:WynnSign.JPG

Analysts are not too concerned about the cost of the Wynn development. Wynn paid off the cost of The Mirage hotel-casino in 18 months, much earlier than the planned seven years for which the debt had been scheduled for repayment.

“If you remember the opening of The Mirage in 1989, Wynn needed to make a nut of $1 million a day. Everyone thought he was nuts; ‘couldn’t be done,’ they all said,” Las Vegas history department Chairman Hal Rothman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Wynn sold his interest in Mirage Resorts to MGM Grand (which became MGM Mirage and is now run by Kirk Kerkorian) for US$6.4 billion back in 2000, then turned around and purchased the property for the Wynn hotel-casino for US$275 million. The property was previously the home of the Desert Inn.

The hotel has 2,359 rooms, and a few hundred deluxe suites and “parlors” for high rollers. The casino has 1,960 slot machines and 137 table games on a 111,000 square foot casino floor. A FerrariMaserati dealership and the Le Reve stage show, featuring a million gallon water tank, round out the expensive offerings.

A round of golf will go for US$500 on the elaborate golf course located behind the main building.

All of these specifications add up to a record construction cost of over one million US dollars per room. Other expensive Las Vegas properties cost a fraction of the price, such as the Bellagio, which cost half the price at US$533,000 per room. The most expensive hotel property in the world was previously the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, Hawaii, which cost US$775,000 per room.

“Yes, (Wynn) may be in over his head, but then he has found ways to survive before,” Las Vegas professor Bill Thompson told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Several of Wynn’s largest competitors spoke with admiration of the property and looked forward to its impact on Las Vegas.

“I’ve never understood the hand-wringing about something new, especially in Las Vegas and Atlantic City,” Harrah’s Chairman and CEO Gary Loveman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Other casino bosses from the Mandalay and the MGM Mirage had positive comments as well, hoping to pick up some new business from the development.

“It’s a positive in terms of bringing more visitors,” Mandalay Resort Group President and CEO Glenn Schaeffer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“Steve will build a great property and bring new people to town. If we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing, then we’ll pick up some of that business also,” MGM Mirage Chairman and CEO Terry Lanni told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Thousands of visitors gathered for hours in front of the property before it opened. Security guards had to monitor the number of visitors entering the building.

“I think it’s spectacular,” David Schwartz, coordinator of the Gaming Studies Research Center at the University of Nevada Las Vegas told Reuters.

“People were pushing and shoving,” Las Vegan Kathie Anderson told Associated Press.

“There is nobody in the world who creates such entertaining and beautiful casinos,” British billionaire Richard Branson told Associated Press from the casino floor. “I would say every other casino must be nervous. He’s lifted the bar dramatically,” Branson said.

“This would be hard to top,” Las Vegan Marlene DeMarco told Reuters.

Dog flu spreads across the US

   Posted by: Admin   in Uncategorized

Saturday, October 15, 2005

Dogs are normally resistant to most flu strains. Since about 2000, a new strain of dog flu has been spreading in America, and there’s no vaccine to prevent it.

To limit exposure to the flu, some dog owners are avoiding public places like dog shows and parks. Since the flu can spread where groups of dogs are housed, some dog owners are nervous about the practice of putting their pets in kennels. According to Edward Dubovil, director of the animal virology lab at Cornell University, 100% of dogs appear to be susceptible to infection by this new flu strain. It is estimated that 1-5% of infected dogs are dying from this flu strain. The symptoms of dog flu are akin to those of kennel cough, a more common and less serious illness.

Starting in 2004 there have been many outbreaks of flu at dog race tracks. Since early in 2004, researchers have been working to characterize the type of flu that is infecting dogs. In September of 2005 it was reported that this dog flu strain had crossed over from horses to dogs. This type of flu virus has been infecting horses for at least 40 years. It is expected that existing flu vaccines for horses can soon be adapted for use in dogs.

The spread of a horse flu virus to dogs is an example of what could happen with bird flu. Currently the bird flu is transmitted from birds to humans but does not spread easily from person to person. The new strain of dog flu shows signs of having been genetically modified from the original horse-preferring virus strain making it easy to transmit from dog to dog. Future genetic modifications of bird flu could better adapt it to humans and allow it to spread from person to person. The chance of such viral evolution can be reduced by limiting exposure of humans to bird flu.

At this time, the new dog flu virus strain does not seem to be a danger for humans. However, humans will be monitored for signs of infection by new genetic variants of the dog flu. Due to the close physical association between pet dogs and humans, a flu strain that could jump from dogs to humans would be of great concern. Recently evolved virus strains that jump from one species to another are often particularly lethal because the newly infected species may have little or no immunity to the new virus strain.

The Practicality of IMindMap

by

David Kendrick

Have you ever wondered about how your brain comes up with ideas or about how many thoughts pass through your mind per second? It’s really hard to quantify, mostly because it depends on the person whose speed of thought is in question. Scientists at John Hopkins attempted to put a number to this, and found, after some amount of research, that it was 550 to 750 milliseconds. Some argue that the basis of this conclusion is incomplete; however, one thing is for certain-the way a person’s mind works is unique to him or her.

Various studies have been attributed to the human brain, dating as far back as the 1800s, yet it continues to amaze and arouse a great amount of curiosity. To this day, people are still trying to peel off its layers and fully comprehend the inner workings of this highly complex organ. Mind mapping is an attempt to illustrate your thoughts through the use of visual aids, charting out words and associations, expanding each branch hailing from the central idea with a chain of illustrations, sub-categories, etc. A 2009 study by Buzan Centre Australia Managing Director Henry Toi revealed that mind mapping amplified memory by as much as 32%, while Drs. Paul Farrand, Fearzana Hussain, and Enid Hennessy’s 2002 research demonstrated how a diagram of ideas boosted long-term recall by 10%, and encouraged a more enhanced critical thinking. The iMindMap Experience iMindMap is mind mapping tool that gives you the power to render your mind maps using various tools like diagrams, reference materials, and audio/ visual/ multimedia aids. It’s a comprehensive mix of applications that can be associated to or exported as Scalable Vector Graphics (SVGs), Portable Document Formats (PDFs), Spread Sheets, Microsoft Project Files, Power Point Presentations, MS Word or Open Office Writer Documents, and so on. There are 4 kinds of iMindMap Suites; namely, iMindMap Elements, iMindMap Professional, iMindMap Ultimate, and iMindMap Ultimate Plus. * iMindMap Elements taps into your brain’s vast potential. * iMindMap Professional integrates helpful applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Outlook, Publisher, One Note, and Access) and the Open Office Productivity Suite (Writer, Draw, Calc, Impress, and Base) to increase the quality of your collaborative efforts and help you come up with a winning presentation. * iMindMap Ultimate is the best tool for control, efficiency and critical thinking to increase your productivity. * iMindMap Ultimate Plus is the next level of iMindMap Ultimate.
